About Us
Hi there! We are That Maker Family. We are a family of 5 who have always enjoyed making things together and who love when our creations bring others joy. Our journey started with a 3D Printer as a Christmas gift for Jack Sr. It was a fun hobby that captured the whole family's attention, eventually leading our daughters at the ages of 10 and 8 to start selling 3D prints at small craft shows. We spent more time fixing the printer than printing with it.
After a couple years of fighting and slowly increasing the size of the girls' shows, we finally gave up on the old printer, bringing an end to our craft show journey. That is when one of the greatest role reversals in history fell upon us. Carey wanted to buy a Bambu printer, a printer Jack Sr had been eyeing for months but couldn't even imagine paying for, so he found himself in the unexpected position of saying "maybe we should wait"...for new tech...that he really wanted.
But Carey's excitement for amping up the craft shows won out. Two years later and we now have 6 Bambu printers, most of which are running 24/7. We can no longer remember what our dining room sounds like without 3D printers churning away.
While we have continued to grow, one thing that hasn't changed is our love of bringing joy to others. The main reason we bring a small 3D printer to our shows is for the opportunity to show people how they work. So, if you have any questions about 3D printing please do not hesitate to reach out: info@thatmakerfamily.com
Neuro-spicy
In December of 2023 two of our children were diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. That lead both parents to be tested to discover that Carey is AuDHD (Autistic with ADHD) and Jack Sr with garden variety ADHD. We didn't see it coming, but after the shock wore off we set to learning all we could so we could all support each other. It was a challenging period, but it brought us closer than ever before and it gave us a new perspective that we deeply appreciate.
We know how important stimming can be to people in the neurodivergent community, which is why we try to find interesting and unique tools for people in the community to use, mostly in the way of fidgets. We love hearing when one of our fidgets helps someone in the community with their needs and we are always open to trying more if you have suggestions, its an honor to help those with brains like ours.
